Going Back to Germany – Look & See-Trip

10. April 2016

You guys, in 1 hour I’m sitting on a plane to Germany. I’m going on a Look & See-Trip. All by myself – and hopefully not stuck in the middle seat inbetween two weird strangers – ha!

Look & See-Trip

Am I excited about this trip? Well, not really. First and foremost, I already miss my kids like crazy (I might have shed a tear or two or three because of that…). On top of that the long plane ride and the thoughts of jetlag are stressing me out. And also I’m nervous because I don’t really know what to expect! It seems like a trip to a completely foreign destination which feels so weird because I should know how it is like in Germany. Right? But I don’t! Which also makes me very curious: what are the first things that I will notice? That everything is so clean and orderly? That people look, dress, behave differently? That cars are small but going so much faster? Will the Weissbier and the Brezn be as good as I remember them to be?

In the past, whenever I arrived in Munich, a calm came over me as soon as I got a glimpse of the city skyline, the Alpes in the far distance or the typical blue-and-white sky. It was a feeling of coming home and knowing that this is where I belong and where I want to be. Will it be the same on Monday morning, after calling Chattanooga and the United States my home for over 4 years?

Stay tuned. I’ll keep you posted!

  2. These are the things you have to remember, Tina. That you are going on a L/S trip to your home country! lol

I wish you those blue and white skies you are dreaming of; I recall Bayern having frequent gray skies! ;)

Have a great time and see you soon!

    • Hi Jill, I mainly saw blue and white skies while I was there. I got what I asked for ;-)
